Who is FINcredible?

FINcredible is an Austrian, FMA-regulated provider of open banking and digital onboarding solutions, based in Vienna. Businesses use FINcredible to verify the identity, account data and creditworthiness of their end customers digitally, via a WebApp or a REST API.

FINcredible was founded in 2017 as an academic spin-off of WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences and MODUL University Vienna.

Yes. FINcredible has been part of the KSV1870 Group since 2019 and is an independent company regulated by the FMA.

FINcredible is a B2B provider and works with businesses such as banks, leasing companies, insurers, telecommunications providers and municipalities. The people being verified are the end customers of these businesses, for example during a loan application or when signing a contract.

FINcredible offers six digital onboarding solutions:

  • Identity verification with ID Austria, Bank-Ident and Document-Ident
  • Credit check based on account transaction data, with Contract Detection as an add-on
  • Communication data verification (email and phone number)
  • SEPA eMandate
  • IBAN NameCheck
  • End-to-end onboarding

How does a partnership with FINcredible start?

A partnership with FINcredible starts with a workshop in which the business’s requirements are defined. Based on this, the relevant FINcredible solutions are selected, along with whether they run via the WebApp or the REST API.

FINcredible sends the API documentation directly to the business after the workshop, tailored to the selected solutions. FINcredible also provides sandbox access for testing the integration.

FINcredible support is available by email at support@fincredible.io, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00 (Vienna time). Business enquiries go to contact@fincredible.io, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:00.

Companies use FINcredible as a regulated partner for digital identity verification and credit checks, for example when you take out a loan, a lease or an insurance policy. FINcredible replaces paper forms and in-person appointments.

What you need for a check with FINcredible depends on the method:

  • Online banking login for Bank-Ident and the credit check
  • An activated ID Austria
  • An ID document for Document-Ident

The company requesting the check decides which method is used.

Questions about your contract, its terms or the decision are answered by the company that requested the check, such as your bank, leasing provider or energy provider. FINcredible carries out the check, and the company decides on the contract.

If you believe your FINcredible check result does not reflect your financial situation correctly, contact support@fincredible.io. You have the right to have a person review the result, to state your point of view and to contest the result.

Is FINcredible regulated by the FMA?

Yes. FINcredible has been registered with the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) since 6 March 2020 as Austria’s first account information service provider (AISP) under PSD2 and ZaDiG 2018. FINcredible is also an accredited ID Austria partner.

FINcredible GmbH is the data controller under the GDPR for the check. FINcredible’s data protection officer is the law firm Putz & Rischka Rechtsanwälte KG, reachable at datenschutz@fincredible.io. The competent supervisory authority is the Austrian Data Protection Authority.

As an account information service provider under PSD2, FINcredible retrieves account data only with the explicit consent of the end customer. FINcredible cannot initiate payments or transfers.

No. FINcredible does not keep online banking login credentials: PINs, passwords and session tokens are deleted immediately after the account data is retrieved.

FINcredible automatically deletes account transaction data 30 working days after collection. Personal details and check results are subject to a statutory retention period of seven years (Section 152 of the Austrian Trade Regulation Act 1994 and Section 212 of the Austrian Commercial Code).

Yes. Consent to a check with FINcredible can be withdrawn at any time. You can request deletion of your data at datenschutz@fincredible.io. Data that FINcredible is legally required to retain is excluded.

FINcredible retrieves account data directly from the bank via the PSD2 interface. Unlike uploaded PDF bank statements or payslips, there is no intermediate step in which documents can be edited or forged.
